Description
Matte lamination (often spelled "matt" in British English) is a print finishing process where a thin, transparent plastic film is bonded to a printed surface using heat and pressure. This produces a smooth, non-reflective finish that gives the material a sophisticated, high-end appearance.
Key Characteristics
Appearance: It provides a soft, muted look with a low-sheen or no-sheen finish. Unlike gloss lamination, it absorbs light rather than reflecting it, which significantly reduces glare.
Texture: The surface feels silky or velvety to the touch. A premium version, known as "soft-touch" lamination, offers an even more tactile, peach-skin feel.
Readability: Because it eliminates distracting reflections, matte lamination makes text-heavy documents much easier to read, especially under bright artificial lights or direct sunlight.
