Description

The B. Braun Vasofix 22G is a single-use, peripheral intravenous (IV) catheter with an injection port and an integrated, passive safety mechanism designed to prevent needlestick injuries. It is primarily used for establishing venous access to sample blood or administer fluids, medications, and blood products intravenously. Gauge Size: 22G (Gauge), which is color-coded blue for easy identification.
Safety Mechanism: Features a passive, fully automatic safety shield that permanently covers the needle tip upon withdrawal, which helps eliminate needlestick injuries and related infections.
Double Flashback Technology: Confirms proper placement in the vein via two visual cues: the first flash confirms the needle is in the vein, and the second confirms the catheter capillary is also inside the vessel.
Injection Port: Includes an integrated injection port with a colored cap, allowing for quick administration of medication without interrupting the main infusion line.
Catheter Material: Available in Polyurethane (PUR) or FEP (Fluorinated ethylene propylene), both of which are radiopaque to ensure good visibility under X-ray. PUR is known for a softer, more comfortable indwelling performance.
Design: Features a universal back-cut bevel on the needle for minimal puncturetrauma and ease of penetration, even in small or fragile veins. It also has flexible fixation wings for stable and secure placement.
Patient Suitability: Can be used for all patients, including adults, pediatrics, and neonates.
Sterility: The device is sterile and intended for single-use only to prevent contamination and infection. The recommended maximum dwell time is typically 72 to 96 hours before replacement.
